S.A.D.
Lots of people get depressed during the cold winter months—so many, in fact, that there’s a name for it: seasonal affective disorder, or SAD.
Me? I’m the opposite.
I thrive during the dark days of winter but slowly peter down to an inevitable depression every year as the days grown longer and hotter.
Maybe it’s the fact that I hate the warm, sticky weather, which makes my brain feel sluggish, like my gears have rusted over (and no surprise if they did, with this insane New Jersey humidity!).
Maybe I hate all that extra sunlight, which keeps me at work (and awake) even more than I’m already inclined to be. During the dog days, I’m up and working from around four a.m. until I crash (which, I admit, happens by around nine p.m.—that’s what happens when you start getting old, folks!).
Whatever the cause, I can report that this dip in my state of mind happens every year, without fail. And the only surefire cure? Autumn. But since THAT won’t be happening anytime soon, I’m soothing my fried, frazzled nerves with books. Lots of books. Hope you’re finding time this summer to do the same!

Brain Teaser of the Month
Congratulations to Keira Schaefer, who won an Amazon gift card, The question was:
Since we’re in full-on summer now, this month we have a beach-read question: Author Elin Hilderbrand sets many of her books on what famous summer resort island?
The answer was: Nantucket.
Now answer this:
When was Vladimir Nabokov’s controversial novel Lolita first published in the United States?
That’s it for this month. Have a great rest of the summer! See you next time!
