Help Us Welcome Our Newest Author, Prioleau Alexander!
Prioleau Alexander is a native of Charleston, South Carolina, a graduate of Auburn University, and a former Marine officer. The jobs he’s worked to pay for his writing addiction include creative director for an advertising agency, freelance writer, drone videographer, boat captain, operations director for an Anglican church, and political satirist for a Charleston-based newspaper.
His first book is titled You Want Fries With That? A White-Collar Burnout Experiences Life at Minimum Wage. In researching the book, he worked as a fast-food cashier, ice-cream scooper, construction laborer, pizza guy, dude-ranch cowboy, ER tech, and a big-box-store applicant (he wasn’t hired). Pat Conroy described the work as “magnificent.”
His second book is titled Dispatches Along the Way: An American Humorist Staggers Across Spain in Search of Happiness, Truth, and a Cold Beer. It chronicles his walk across Spain on the Camino de Santiago, a religious pilgrimage dating back to the Middle Ages.
He has signed with Blydyn Square Books for his manuscript They Don’t Call It the Submission Process for Nothing: A Rookie Author’s Rookie Year, which is about his experience following the publication of his book Fries by a large publishing house. The experience almost cured him of any desire to be published again, but he had the good fortune to be introduced to Blydyn Square Editor in Chief Tara Tomczyk by Everett De Morier.
He has three other manuscripts he is hoping won’t die on his hard drive.
